“The Elders Chairs” | Uvalde, Texas   A traditional part of our annual family reunion is the group photo. Everyone gathers around these front and center chairs which are always reserved for The Elders: the matriarchs and patriarchs of the family. This photo was a test shot taken to prepare for the family portrait - a the scene has been repeated many times.  The chairs are carefully placed in front of the giant old oak tree that has served as the backdrop for hundreds of photos. The same old oak that as kids we climbed over, battled over crawled all over as kids. Of course, there are no people in this photo.  But I look at it and can see lots of people; those with us now and those that have passed. And there is a racket going on; a cacophony of laughing, talking, yelling, kids running around, climbing all over the tree, Mammas after them like scattered chickens - it's a happy time.
